This is great! The internet fans who started this most recent drive to get John Brodie in the Pro Football Hall of Fame are a small, but determined group. They are looking for support from all sports fans to help them put right something that should have happened years ago.
John Brodie, San Francisco 49ers QB wearing jersey #12 for seventeen years, had very impressive statistics for his time and he should have been voted in years ago. Now his only shot at the HOF is to be enshrined as a Senior honoree. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrodJo00.htm
Brodie, now 72 and recovering from a debilitating stroke, doesn't get around like he used to and still has difficulty speaking. Trent Dilfer took Brodie's jersey #12 out of retirement in an effort to bring attention to the committee that they have passed over Brodie far too long, but still Brodie wasn't inducted. So how many more chances is the HOF committee going to pass up to honor a living legend? http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=2533021&type=story
Regardless of which sport you are passionate about, won't you please send off a letter or fax to the nominating committee asking them to put John Brodie on the roster for the 2009 nominations? The deadline for fan nomination letters is March 1, 2008.
And, please sign the online petition?
The nominating committee may not pay attention to online petitions, but just maybe some sportswriters or broadcasters will get wind of it and call attention to the fans' generated effort and give some much needed publicity .
The internet campaign is a long shot, but let's get the committee's attention and show them that they need to listen to the fans for a change!
The web site for the campaign has sample letters you can copy and paste, if needed.
Send your letters to:

Thanks for any support you can give!
